Obituary
Herb, beloved father, grandfather, and friend was a kind and thoughtful man, he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A lifelong learner with a sharp mind, Herb spent much of his professional life working as a computer programmer in Management, primarily with Aérospatiale and Bell Helicopter where his logical thinking and patience served him well. Beyond his career, he was a man of wide-ranging interests and deep passions. He participated in CASA with his beloved wife, Roz, and provided protection and service in his neighborhood.
Herb never met a stranger. He had a conversation with anyone anywhere. He cherished time spent with his family and friends, which we’re always filled with laughter, storytelling, good advice and a particular love for poker playing with friends and good-natured competition. He had a lifelong fascination with history, particularly Native American history and artifacts, and model car building. He always imparted his wisdom and knowledge, especially his unsolicited advice. A proud admirer of President Ronald Reagan, Herb found inspiration in his leadership and vision.
He lived a full life marked by curiosity, integrity, and generosity of spirit. His love for his family, his loyalty to his friends, and his enduring sense of wonder about the world will be remembered always. The most endearing love he had above all is his beloved wife, Roslyn.
Herb is survived by his children Erika Finmark of Llano, Texas, Wendy Carroll and husband Joseph Carroll of St. Petersburg, Florida, Keith Finmark and wife Cassie Finmark of Glendale, Arizona; stepchildren Ronnie Dillon and wife Jeannie Dillon of McKinney, Texas, Laura Dillon of Flower Mound, Texas, Joseph Ashman of South Pasadena, California; grandchildren Martin Finmark Perez, Felicia Finmark Perez and Chase Franke, Elena Finmark, Amira Finmark, Madison Dillon, Audrina Surman, Alexis Surman, and Andrew Surman; great grandchildren Easton, Charlie, Nova-Leigh, and Salem. He is preceded in death by his wife, Roslyn Finmark, and his brother Earl Finmark.
